String Quartet “xPAUSE”
An event to commemorate the Holocaust – a permanent open wound in the body of Europe – through the history of the Terezin concentration camp (Theresienstadt) in the Czech Republic and the evolution of a phenomenon: the creation of a musical movement in the camp from late 1941 until its dissolution in 1945.
Imprisoned composers wrote music, dozens of musicians performed works of classical and jazz music, teachers organised choirs and taught instruments, vocal singing, harmony and music theory.
The goal was resistance through artistic creation. This unique piece of history unfolds before our eyes through the lecture and the performance of musical works. The case of Terezin is an example of what mankind is capable of when faced with disaster, the violence of discrimination and totalitarianism.

The event is held in the framework of the thematic unit “War-Refugees-Immigration”
