MUSIC & MOVIE STARS: TRIBUTE TO NAT KING COLE
T.C.H. - THESSALONIKI FRIENDS OF MUSIC SOCIETY
In an hour-long cinematic tribute, Nat King Cole, the most popular African American singer of all times, will perform 20 of his greatest hits.
Journalist Lefteris Kogkalidis will launch the winter lecture cycle on popular artists with a selection of Nat King Cole’s television appearances, singing such songs as: Unforgettable, The Way you Look Tonight, When I Fall in Love, It’s Only a Paper Moon, Let There be Love, Mona Lisa, That Sunday, That Summer, Those Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer, Ramblin Rose, Autumn Leaves, Nature Boy. This programme from the 50s, when the artist was in top signing form, demonstrates his mastery of the piano and the melodica.
Many music critics both then and now see Cole as Frank Sinatra’s equal and believe that it was only the racial discrimination of the times that prevented him from having a bigger career in the entertainment and music business.
