The Baltic Neopolis Quartet, founded in 2008 by leading soloists of the Baltic Neopolis Orchestra, is an ensemble distinguished by its fresh and innovative approach to chamber music. Comprised of graduates from esteemed music institutions in London, Wrocław, and Szczecin, the quartet specializes in 20th- and 21st-century repertoire while embracing unconventional artistic projects. Their performances extend beyond traditional concert halls, taking place in museums, radio studios, churches, industrial buildings, and open-air venues, engaging audiences in unique and unexpected ways.
Known for their bold interpretations and inventive arrangements, the Baltic Neopolis Quartet presents works by renowned classical composers, as well as contemporary and crossover artists. Their artistic versatility has earned them invitations to prestigious festivals, including the 42nd International Festival of Contemporary Music Poznań Musical Spring (2013), the Lutosławski Year Celebrations in Prague (2013), the 1st Gorzów Festival of Contemporary Music named after Wojciech Kilar (2013), the Gaia International Music Festival in Portugal (2015), the XIX Festival Internacional Música y Festa Massanassa in Spain (2015), and major summer festivals in Croatia, Greece (2016), and Malta (2017). Their international reach expanded further in 2017 with a successful concert tour of China and Japan.
Beyond live performances, the musicians are sought-after collaborators in studio projects for both theatrical and popular music productions. They have contributed string arrangements to albums by artists such as Jola Szczepaniak (Baba Gada) and Katarzyna Nosowska (8).
Their commitment to contemporary music is reflected in compositions dedicated to them, including Piotr Klimek's string quartets and Michał Dobrzyński's Orestes String Quartet No. 2. The ensemble's discography includes Szczecin Compositions and Il Tramonto, featuring soprano Joanna Tylkowska-Drożdż.
As accomplished soloists and chamber musicians, the quartet members also serve as concertmasters, university lecturers, and composers, bringing a wealth of experience and artistic insight to their performances. Their ability to blend individual artistry with cohesive ensemble playing results in performances that are both technically masterful and emotionally compelling, solidifying their reputation as one of the most dynamic chamber ensembles of their generation.
