Infectious Diseases (ID) prevention and optimal management remain at the core of quality care in the modern Intensive Care Unit (ICU). On the same time, novel challenges posed by multidrug-resistant (MDR) organisms, emerging pathogens, and complex patient populations demand constant innovation and multidisciplinary expertise.
The
IMPACT-ICU Postgraduate Course aims to provide an up-to-date, evidence-based educational forum for clinicians and researchers dedicated to optimizing infection outcomes in critically ill patients. It is designed for intensivists, infectious diseases specialists, clinical microbiologists, pharmacists and related bio-scientists who are involved in infection management in the ICU setting. The curriculum covers the full spectrum of infection challenges encountered in modern intensive care, including:
- Prevention and control and healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) in the ICU, including VAP, CLABSIs, and bloodstream infections
- Diagnostics, antimicrobial stewardship, and implementation of guideline-based care
- Anti-infective Management of severe infections including pneumonia, bacteraemia with additional consideration in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and fungal infections
- Infections in vulnerable specific populations: immunocompromied, patients with advanced liver disease, obese or those requiring advanced organ support (ECMO, RRT)
The course is mainly based on interactive tutorials, case-based sessions and expert panel discussions addressing complex, real-world diagnistic and therapeutic dilemmas. Participants will engage with proctical scenarios, learn from recent clinical tral data, and develop a holistic view of infection management, prevention and control in ICU.
