From Baudelaire to Karyotakis
Poetry and music evening

An atmospheric performance of music and words, dedicated to the Accursed Poets and the unfulfilled loves they lived.
Baudelaire, Rimbaud, Verlaine, Poe, Karyotakis, Lapathiotis, Polydouri: the rough "diamonds" who we usually refer to as “poètes maudits”. They lived in the dim light, they reached the ends of denial, they sought the lost innocence through the dark paths of poetry. The “accursed” go against social “"standards" and fight with the only weapon they have. They write poetry and provoke with their long-suffering and turbulent lives.
Through excerpts of poems, narrative texts, poems set to music and visual material, we will attempt a wandering into their charming and highly atmospheric poetic universe! We will listen to their silence, share their darkness, attempt to understand why there is so much pain in their art and maybe even decipher their curse.
An atmospheric poetry evening, a performance of music and words, which will be embellished by the performances of Alkinoοs Ioannidis and the narration of Odysseas Papaspiliopoulos.

So many poems and great masterpieces
were written under the flame of a candle.
And if their own candle seems to be going out,
the flame of their Ideas still lasts.

The event will feature about 20 poems, set to music by set to music by Manos Hatzidakis, Lena Platonos, Dj Mestre & Giorgos Avramidis, Nikos Xydakis, Loukas Thanos, Yannis Glezos, Alkinoos Ioannidis, Dimitris Maramis, Dimitris Papadimitriou, Stavros Kouyumtzis, Costas Livadas, Christos Theodorou, Idyli Tsaliki.
