Débora Halász

Brazilian Débora Halász is among the leading South American pianists of her generation. Winner of the most important competitions in her native country, she made her début with the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra at the age of fifteen. Her wide discography includes a series of Heitor Villa-Lobos’ piano music described as ‘the most successful account of Villa-Lobos on record’ (Fanfare).
Débora Halász is a guest at many European and South American festivals including Bath, Brandenburgischer Sommer, Mikkeli, Menton and Campos do Jordão, and works with such musicians as Patrick Gallois, Ingolf Turban, Lavard Skou Larsen, Sebastian Hess, Sophia Reuter and Wen-Sinn Yang. With her husband, Franz Halász, she forms the ‘Duo Halász’ (guitar and piano/ harpsichord).
Débora Halász teaches at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich.
