Kyriakos Petras

Violin
Kyriakos Petras is considered one of the world’s outstanding violinists in the field of traditional Greek music. Born in 1958, he taught himself to play the violin but did not begin his formal study of the instrument until 1983. Within a short period of time, his natural gift for music and his systematic approach to music helped him to become a leading performer. Petras has collaborated with numerous music ensembles and traditional Greek music performers, and he has taken part in performances both in Greece and abroad, including the United States, Canada, Australia, Asia, and Europe. He has been a core member of En Chordais since 1998 and he has taught traditional violin in the Department of Music Science and Art at the University of Macedonia.
