Konstantinos Destounis

Piano
Born in 1991 in Athens, Konstantinos Destounis is a pianist whose passion and devote to music have led him to the international music scene. He is the receiver of numerous prizes, most notably the 1st Prize in “Southern Highlands International Piano Competition 2013” in Australia, the 2nd Prize in “Grand Prix Maria Callas” International Piano Competition 2015 in Athens (1st Prize not awarded) and the 2nd Prize in “Bremen European Piano Competition 2012”. He is also a prize winner in International Competitions such as: Liszt Society (London), De Bach au Jazz (Paris), Music and Earth (Sofia), Seiler (Rethymno), Giorgos Thymis (Thessaloniki), Konzerteum (Athens) and many more. As the winner of the competition organized by the National Radio-Television, he represented Greece at the “Eurovision Young Musicians 2010” in Vienna.
His numerous awards include the prestigious “Eleni Tim. Mykoniou” Prize (Order of Letters and Fine Arts) awarded by the Academy of Athens, as well as the UNESCO Gold Medal and Honorary Awards from the Presidency of the University of Macedonia.
As a soloist he has performed with the Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, the UK Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra and with many Greek orchestras (Athens State Orchestra, Thessaloniki State Orchestra, Radio-Television National Orchestra, Municipality of Athens and Municipality of Thessaloniki Orchestras, Athens “Sinfonietta”, Athens Youth Orchestra, Orchestras of the University of Macedonia and the Thessaloniki State Conservatory).
His artistic activity includes two CD recordings (productions of Radio Bremen and Southern Highlands Competition), as well as performances throughout Europe and Australia, in venues such as the Opera La Fenice in Venice, the Llewellyn Hall in Canberra, die Glocke Saal in Bremen, St. John’s Smith Square in London, the National Opera in Tirana, the Athens Megaron, the Thessaloniki Megaron. As a chamber musician he has performed, among others, in the International Chamber Music Festival of Salzburg in 2013 and 2014, placed at the same concert with artists such as Pavel Gililov, Menahem Pressler and the Borodin Quartet.
Konstantinos graduated with honors from the Mozarteum University of Salzburg (Piano Master) with Prof. Rolf Plagge, the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki, Greece (Bachelor in Music and Piano Performance) with Prof. Igor Petrin, from the Schola Cantorum of Paris (Diplome de Concert) with Prof. Agathe Leimoni, and the Hellenic Conservatory of Athens (Piano Diploma with Prof. Agathe Leimoni, Diplomas of Harmony, Counterpoint and Fugue with Prof. G. Aravidis). He is a Scholar of the Thessaloniki Friends of Music Society, currently studying at the Royal College of Music in London (Artist Diploma Program), with Prof. Ian Jones and Prof. Dmitri Alexeev. His previous studies have been supported by Scholarships of the Onassis Foundation, the YAMAHA Music Foundation of Europe and the State Scholarships Foundation of Greece.
