MUSIC IN OUR LIVES: MUSIC AND RELIGIOUS SENTIMENT

Music is the universal language which penetrates into the depths of the soul, vibrates its noblest strings and creates the most beautiful and holiest emotions that lift man up from earthly matters and guide him to the world of joy, light and hope. Music has clearly been associated with religious sentiment and worship from the time when man turned his gaze beyond this world and sought the truth and his firm place on the existential path to the land of eternity. Supplication, expectation, respect, love, joy, hope, glory, thanksgiving and praise, are echoed through the sounds of music and membership and joyfully and solemnly join the earth with the sky, offering the soul peaceful anticipation, sweet fortitude and coveted serenity.
The Thessaloniki Friends of Music Society, wishing to demonstrate the deep message of the secret language of music in man's most holy moments, at the time of self-awareness, spiritual uplifting, prayer and worship, is organizing a workshop on ''Music and Religious Sentiment'', where experts will analyse the connections between music and religiosity, covering the entire religious spectrum, from the most ancient times until the present day.
