Contemporary opera Marnie by Nico Muhly, based on the novel by Winston Graham which inspired Hitchcock’s suspense-filled thriller, will premier this year at the Met and on the Live in HD programme. Isabel Leonard plays the title role, with Christopher Maltman in the role of blackmailing husband Mark Rutland, Iestyn Davies as his brother Terry, Janis Kelly as Mrs Rutland, and the renowned mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves as Marnie’s mother. Robert Spano débuts as orchestra Conductor.
Marnie is a collaboration and co-production with the English National Opera, which initially performed it in 2017.
