PIANO RECITAL BY CHARALAMBOS AGGELOPOULOS

T.C.H.

J. Haydn: Sonata in C minor Hob XVI:50
L.v. Beethoven: Sonata in A major, Op.2 No. 2
M. Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition
Haydn was Beethoven’s teacher, but their relationship was not always harmonious. In the first part of the concert two representative examples of classicism are presented, namely, one of the Sonatas by the “teacher”, Haydn, and one of the first by the “student”, Beethoven, dedicated to Haydn.
Influenced by Viktor Hartmann’s exhibition, eighty years later, in Russia, Mussorgsky composed one of the most emblematic works of the romantic repertory for the piano.
