J. VAKARELIS - H. MERCIER - C. KATSARIS - G.-E. LAZARIDIS: 4 PIANOS ... 4 PIANISTS

T.C.H.
For the first time ever, on 10 March 2017, four world famous pianists appear together, namely: Janis Vakarelis, Cyprien Katsaris, Hélène Mercier and Yorgos-Emmanuel Lazaridis, at Thessaloniki Concert Hall. This is a unique and exceptionally impressive programme, which has captivated even the most demanding audiences and has received enthusiastic reviews in Europe.
The 4 artists shed new light on widely known classic repertory works : they bring the orchestra on to four pianos; Ravel’ s Bolero, with its familiar rhythmical motif passes with originality, grace and intensity from one piano to the next.
The four pianists, with their amazingly nuanced and fiery interpretation, achieve a small miracle: they make us forget the orchestra in a work that is an orchestral piece par excellence,” according to the reviewer of the French magazine ‘Diapason’, about the concert of the 4 pianists in Paris.
In similar tones is the review from Bayreuth in Germany on Wagner’sTannhäuser: “Yet, we did not really miss the orchestra at all; the power and volume of the 4 pianos is truly impressive.
As for the transcriptions of Bizet’s Carmen and Theodorakis’ Zorbas by Achilles Wastor, they have enchanted audiences from Paris to Istanbul and from Lugano to Athens.
