Jed Wentz & Musica ad Rhenum: Händel’s virtuosic friends
The rich artistic life of 18
th-century London attracted countless exceptional musicians from all over Europe. Italian virtuosos, such as Francesco Geminiani and Giovanni Battista Bononcini, the Swedish violinist Johann Helmich Roman, and Dutch musicians such as Willem de Fesch and Pieter Hellendaal tried their luck in the English metropolis. Most of them worked with Georg Friedrich Händel, a central figure in the city’s musical scene, whose operas were a huge success.
Jed Wentz, one of the most important baroque flutists of our day, along with his award-winning ensemble Musica ad Rhenum perform works by the great composer and his virtuosic friends – Geminiani, Roman and Hellendaal.
