TAKIM - CAFE AMAN AMERICA
WHY MY DEAR SWEETHEART
JAZZ AND HIJAZ FROM ELLIS ISLAND TO CHICAGO

T.C.H. - ARTWAY-TECHNOTROPON
The six Greek folk music virtuosos that compose the dynamic TAKIM group return to the stage of Thessaloniki Concert Hall. A charming tribute performance to the traditional music of Greek immigrants the USA, curated and presented by Lambros Liavas.
TAKIM, with exceptional singers Yiannis Niarchos and Katerina Tziviloglou, bring to life on the Concert Hall stage ‘Cafe-Aman America’, the musical epic of Greeks Living Abroad.
The guests of honour include the “patriarch” of folk clarinet Petroloukas Chalkias (who lived in America from 1960 to 1979), as well as the great bouzouki virtuoso Nikos Tatasopoulos (son of the renowned Yiannis Tatasopoulos-”Dillinger”, who made his mark on Greek night clubs abroad.)
It is estimated that from 1896 (the year the first Greek song was recorded) to the 60s, more than 15,000 Greek songs were printed in the United States, covering all genres. TAKIM and friends reveal to us this rare and charming repertoire, highlighted and promoted through a contemporary dynamic approach, with the exceptional virtuosity of the group and its guests of honour.
“In America, Greece, you grew there like a weed!...”
