The play
Prokofiev managed with a simple tale to introduce children to the complexity of an orchestra; he created an essential musical piece to initiate future fans. In Peter and the Wolf, several dramatic moments happen in succession, ranging from suspense to humor, and are presented by characters clearly identified by their accompanying music. A magical atmosphere is created and traps the viewer from the very beginning in a mysterious world composed of words, music, and shapes (like children drawings) in continuous movement. This performance underlines that given the collaboration between friends, great results can come about!
Peter and the Wolf is an orchestral composition of enormous musical quality. Τhe show premiered on April 1997 at the Auditorio Manuel de Falla, Granada and in 1999 received the Spanish National Award for the best children’s performance. Since then, it has been presented in many cities and many countries and this year, for the first time, the show will be presented here, in Thessaloniki. During the performance, you shall remain silent. And afterwards, close your eyes to dream!
