OPERA AT THE CONCERT HALL
KURT WEILL: MAHAGONNY SONGSPIEL & DER JASAGER
The collaboration between Weill and Brecht was not limited to the legendary The Threepenny Opera (1928). It brought many other important fruits. The diptych presented by the Thessaloniki Concert Hall includes two particular works of the German creators: The Mahagonny Songspeil (1927) - a work violently criticizing capitalism - marked the beginning of their creative collaboration, while the educative work He said Yes (1930) is a special form with which Brecht experimented before the rise of Nazism led him to self-exile.
