DIALOGUES ON THE FRINGES OF THE 20th CENTURY

Organizer: THESSALONIKI CONCERT HALL

H.W. Henze: Adagio adagio for piano trio
Z. Kodály: Duo for violin and cello, Op. 7
F. Tsalachouris: Five Sketches for violin and cello, Op. 96
A. Arensky: Trio No.1 in D minor, Op.32
Four compositions written at the beginning and at the end of the 20th century (or shortly before and shortly after that), converse and are reflected on each other, thus creating an imaginary dialogue.
The highly romantic Piano Trio No.1 by A. Arsensky, written in 1894, co-exists with the uniquely romantic and brief trio Adagio adagio by H.W. Henze, composed in 1993, while the masterpiece Duo for violin and cello, which was composed by Z. Kodály in 1914 and is weaving between romanticism, modernism and traditional idiom, converses creatively with Five Sketches for violin and cello, which was composed by the tirelessly creative Greek composer F. Tsalachouris in 2016.
