Do not Forget Me. Three Jewish Mothers Write to their Sons from the Thessaloniki Ghetto (In Greek: Μη με ξεχάσετε. Τρεις Εβραίες μητέρες γράφουν στους γιους τους από το γκέτο της Θεσσαλονίκης)
Edited by Leon Saltiel, Alexandria publications 2018

The book contains three collections of letters —letters sent by three Jewish mothers from the ghetto in Thessaloniki to their sons in Athens, a few weeks or days before they were sent to Auschwitz. These shocking testimonies give a unique insight into the life of the Jews of Thessaloniki during the Occupation, through descriptions of eyewitnesses. They show how the mothers themselves perceived and experienced the events, from a woman's perspective that is often absent from historiography. This material, which is rare both for Thessaloniki and in fact for all of Europe, opens the way for new scholarly approaches to the events and allows us to bring to light unknown aspects of history. The last letters of the three mothers, brimming with pain and tears, are a true treasure trove full of symbolisms and messages, from the heart of the victims of the greatest tragedy ever experienced by mankind.
