JAZZ AT THE PLAZA: CHRISTOS PAPAGEORGIOU & ANASTASIOS PAPPAS

Prompted by their love for music of many different styles, two distinct piano figures are meeting in a crossover program including works and adaptations by Keith Jarrett, Richard Rodney Bennett, Christos Papageorgiou, Claude Bolling and Anastasios Pappas, which combines the artistic classical style with improvisation and with the most popular musical genres such as jazz, musical, rock and pop, to name but a few.
In the first part Christos Papageorgiou and Anastasios Pappas perform compositions for two pianos, as well as for solo piano (Heartland and Prayer and Improvisation in the name of K. J.), while in the second part the artists welcome a bassist and a drummer to perform, for the first time in Greece, Sonata No. 2 for two pianos by the famous French composer Claude Bolling in classical and jazz style, as well as the fascinating The man I love by George Gershwin.
