Music Director Emeritus of the Met, James Levine, conducts Julie Taymor’s Tony Award winning production of Mozart’s masterpiece, The Magic Flute. This will be Golda Schultz’s debut with the Met as Pamina, with Kathryn Lewek in the role of Queen of the Night, Charles Castronovo as fairy tale Prince Tamino, Markus Werba as Papageno the Bird Catcher, Christian Van Horn as Sprecher and René Pape as Sarastro. The anniversary presentation of the Magic Flute, an abridged English version for families, was the first Live HD performance transmitted in 2006. This is the first time that the entire opera will be transmitted as part of the Live in HD series.
